Families and children

In October we have some special activities for children in the museum! During the autumn break (15-23 October), the museum is also open on Monday and we’re organizing etching workshops and free paint demonstrations. View all our activities below and book your museum tickets here.

ETCHING WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS AND KIDS (6+ Y/O)

Follow in Rembrandt’s footsteps during our workshops ‘Etching at Rembrandt’s home’. Give your own twist to an etching by Rembrandt and experiment with different techniques, colours and types of paper. Once you’ve finished your etching, you can print it on the large etching press. Afterwards you can take your own artwork home with you. The workshops ‘Etching at Rembrandt’s home’ are suitable for adults and children from 6 years old. City Pass holders can participate in these workshops for free.

You will learn more about the pigments Rembrandt used, where they came from and how he went on to make his paint. The demonstrations are held in the place where Rembrandt himself worked: in his studio. Here he made his masterpieces between 1639 and 1658. The daily paint demonstrations take place continuously between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and can be visited free of charge after purchasing an entrance ticket for the museum.
